St Johnstone boss happy with Graham Cummins

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is confident that the “goals will come” for striker Graham Cummins.

The Irishman made an instant impact with the Perth side after arriving in the summer, scoring six goals and providing even more assists by the end of October.

But a hamstring injury kept him out for two months and Wright has been building up his match fitness over the last few matches.

The 28-year-old has yet to find the net since his comeback, but the Saints boss believes it’s just a matter of time.

“I think he’s done well,” Wright said.

“He just hasn’t scored.

“That was his first 90 minutes (against Aberdeen) and I think he looked more like himself.

“He got into good positions. There was one example when he was free in the box and Darnell (Fisher) was unlucky not to find him with his cross.

“Ideally you’d like to come back and score right away but that hasn’t happened.

“I’m more than happy with how he’s playing. He’ll keep causing teams problems and the goals will come.”

Meanwhile, Wright knows that his defenders have a big job on their hands keeping Ladbrokes Player of the Month Kane Hemmings quiet at Dens Park tomorrow night.

The former Rangers man is on a hot streak of form, with eight goals in the last 10 games.

“He’s a real threat,” Wright said.

“In games where things aren’t going well for them he can create a spark and get a goal out of nothing. So he’s a real danger.”
