Lou Dickenson netted two goals in the first three minutes of the third period as Dundee Stars finally saw off highly-rated Belfast Giants at the Dundee Ice Arena on Sunday night.

The Canadian forward’s goals rounded off a confidence-boosting 6-3 victory.

New coach Marc Lefebvre will be pleased with the progress but still has things to work on before the opening game of the season, Friday’s Challenge Cup clash at home to Belfast.

Stars’ other marksmen on the night were John Dolan, Justin Faryna, Curtis Leinweber and skipper Riley Wetmore.

Stars had fired 51 shots in Saturday’s 6-2 home victory over Edinburgh Capitals.

Stars scorers were Bobby Chaumont, Kevin Hart, John Dolan (2), Mikael Lidhammar and Doug Clarkson

Fife Flyers followed up Saturday’s 4-4 draw with Belfast by winning 6-4 at Edinburgh on Sunday night.

The Kirkcaldy club’s marksmen against the Capitals were Justin Fox, Michael Dorr, Jamie Wilson, Danny Stewart, Ryan Dingle and T J Caig.

On Saturday Fife were denied a victory in front of a crowd of 2,236 by a late leveller.

Shayne Stockton and Caig gave Flyers a 2-0 lead but Giants then moved ahead with goals from Jonathon Boxill, Derrick Walser and Craig Peacock.

Michael Dorr levelled and Jeff Lee fired Flyers ahead but Chris Higgins tied the game with just over two minutes left.
