Fife fighter Connor Law is preparing to make is professional debut.

Fife boxing hopeful Connor Law will aim to get his professional career off to a winning start tonight as he steps into the ring against fellow debutant Aaron Robinson.

The 22-year-old welterweight will be on the undercard of the Prospect Boxing show ‘Into The Furnace’, which will showcase some of the best up and coming Scottish talent at the Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell.

And the Kelty-based fighter, who fights out of the Glenrothes Boxing Club, will be determined to prove that he can cut it at the highest level after the disappointment of narrowly missing out on a place at the Commonwealth Games.

Law was beaten in a one-off qualifying bout for Glasgow 2014 by Lochend fighter Lewis Benson, although the judges only awarded Benson the fight on a split decision in a closed-doors contest.

The Fife fighter has put that setback behind him though and has turned professional as part of Tommy Gilmour’s stable, making his long-awaited pro debut against Lincoln-based opponent Robinson who is a former world kickboxing champion and is also preparing for his first pro outing.

Law’s trainer Stevie McGuire Snr insists his man can go far in the fight game and said the Law camp has had Robinson well scouted.

“We’ve had a look at him and to be honest it’s absolutely pointless putting Connor in against a journeyman for his first fight,” he told Courier Sport.

“But he’s been training hard, his weight is bang on and we’re ready to go.

“It won’t be an easy fight by any means and people want to see Connor work and see what he can do because we’ve got a three-year plan mapped out for him.

“He’s obviously going to be a little nervous before the fight, with smaller gloves and things like that, but he’s ready and raring to get out there.

“We’ll see how it goes but we’ve got 100% confidence in him.”

Law was highly-rated at amateur level and won gold at the prestigious Tammer Tournament in Finland last year, an event in which the likes of Mike Tyson and Oscar De La Hoya have competed in over the years.

Also on the card tonight is Glasgow-based Mohammed Babazudah, who is making his pro debut at super-middleweight against West Midlands opponent Jamie Gelder, while a third Scottish debutant, Keith Dunbar, will also be in action.
