BT Caledonia League: Glenrothes run in six tries in victory at Ellon

Glenrothes landed a second successive five- point haul when they returned from their BT Caledonia League Division 1 match at Ellon with a 41-9 win to their credit.

The Fifers were well in command at half-time, which they reached with a 22-3 advantage, after Daryl Warrender, Michael Delorey and Shaun Gray all touched down, and Kain Duguid kicked the other points.

Further scores from Willie Maxwell, Gray and Aaron Campbell, plus two more conversions from Duguid, completed a satisfying trip for Tom Hainey’s men.

Next up for Glenrothes is the visit of Orkney, who posted a 65-15 win at home to Morgan Academy.

Hillfoots succumbed 38-19 to Gordonians at Tillicoultry, while there was also disappointment for Strathmore, who returned home empty handed after going down 22-13 away to Mackie, with Strathie’s points coming through a Jeff Yarr try and eight points from Fraser Mackay.

The Division 2 (Midlands) match between Harris Academy and Stirling University was abandoned after 27 minutes after one of the students suffered a neck injury.

Alloa took a second successive try bonus point when they ran in 13 tries on their way to an 85-0 win over Panmure at Forthill.

Owen Hughes scored three times for Carnoustie and Ian Reid claimed a double, while George Low and Otto Schweizer had one each in a 41-17 win away to Blairgowrie.

It was also a fruitful day for Kinross, who were 48-14 winners at home to Howe of Fife seconds.

Madras continued their fine start to the campaign with a 28-14 win over Grangemouth Stags.

Arbroath emerged as the early pacesetters in Division 3 Midlands East after easing to a 91-0 win away to Strathmore seconds, and Waid Academy also enjoyed a straightforward afternoon when they saw off Glenrothes seconds 64-20.

Falkirk seconds beat Dundee University Medics 18-15 while Fife Southern saw off hosts Stobswell 24-18.
