Tony Hadley, The Human League and Rick Astley have been announced as headliners for Scotland’s first Rewind Festival, a celebration of 1980s music, to be held at Scone Palace in July.

Over 20,000 fans are expected to roll into the palace to see the biggest line-up of 80s artistes ever to perform on the same bill in Scotland.

They will be joined by fellow chart-toppers Heaven 17, Bananarama, Hue & Cry, The Beat and ABC, along with Scottish heroes The Bluebells and Perth’s own Fiction Factory, who have reformed specially for the occasion.

Tickets for the mammoth party go on sale on Friday.

Billy Ocean, Kim Wilde, Howard Jones, Go West, Nik Kershaw, Imagination, T’Pau, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, The Real Thing, Toyah, Hazel O’Connor, China Crisis, Doctor & the Medics, Modern Romance and Cutting Crew complete the line-up.

Between them this iconic bunch have had over 150 top 20 hits and can tally up over 40 years in the charts.

Rewind takes place on the weekend of July 29-31 and will be Scotland’s largest boutique camping festival.

In an exclusive interview with The Courier, Hadley said, “It’s going to be fantastic and the great thing is it’s all my mates.

“I know everybody on the line-up so I’m really looking forward to it it’s going to be a huge party.”‘A huge singalong party’He added, “I’m going to have a great time anyway mind you, some of them might be too old for partying now.

“But it’ll be great to see everybody and the audiences will love it. Everybody will be playing their hits and it’s just a huge singalong party for everybody.”

Hadley said, “Mums and dads who grew up with that music in the 80s will love it but so will their kids. We’ve had fans from 12 to people in their 60s singing every word.”

In addition to the main stage the festival will have other entertainment with funfairs and fireworks, street entertainers and a kidzone, theme bars, food courts, traders, silent disco and even live karaoke no tacky machines here as festival-goers get the chance to perform with a full live band and backing vocalists.

The campsite is in the parklands below the palace and will feature a range of ‘glamping’ options.

Glamping, i.e. glamorous camping, is where tents, tipis or yurts are all set up for your arrival even your airbed is pumped up and there’s a trolley rental service to carry luggage to the campsite.

There is a family field where late-night partying is banned, plus a special RV (recreational vehicle) field for those with motorhomes and campervans.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday for full details of ticket prices and outlets visit the festival website.
