Kris Miller, Courier, 18/09/11. Picture today shows police presence on Stirling Street, Dundee after Cathie Henderson (84) was attacked on her doorstep and subjected to a violent mugging in her home last night.
There is mystery over the identity of a man whose body was discovered in a flat in Menzieshill, Dundee.
City council contractors had to smash their way into the third-floor property on Charleston Drive, where it is thought the body of the man had lain for up to three weeks.
Tayside Police are trying to determine the man’s identity and establish how and when he died.
Detective Chief Inspector Greig Steele said: ”The identity of the man has not yet been confirmed. The cause of death is also to be established but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
”He had obviously been there for some time. Door-to-door inquiries have been completed and further inquiries to confirm his identity are ongoing.
”As in all sudden deaths, a report will be made to the procurator fiscal.”
Residents said the occupant of the flat was a man believed to be in his twenties but were uncertain if he was the deceased.
Mabel Borrie (79) said: ”There were three police cars outside and they were there quite a long time.”
