Adamson Hospital in Cupar is taking shape, with the second phase of its £10 million refurbishment under way.
Work has started at the hospital’s health centre to provide additional consulting rooms, administration offices and rooms for practice nurses.
The centre has already been partially refurbished, with a new waiting area and reception space.
Glenrothes and North East Fife Community Health Partnership (GNEF CHP) is working with Ogilvie Construction Ltd to deliver the project.
As part of the work, a community cafe will be built at the hospital. NHS Fife staff and community representatives have teamed up with an architect to design the cafe.
Funding still has to be secured to pay for the cafe extension. A contribution from NHS Fife endowment funds means £68,000 has been raised to date but the current total is not enough to cover the whole cost.
The first phase of work was completed earlier this year. Among the improvements were a new physiotherapy department, inpatient ward, rehabilitation area and child health unit.
In-patient beds and some services were moved to Stratheden Hospital to allow the redevelopment to go ahead. These will be moved back to Adamson when the work is complete early next year.
