Man seen naked at window in Dunfermline put on sex offenders register

A serial flasher who left a girl “disturbed” by repeatedly standing naked at his living room window has appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

The girl told her gran she wished “that man at number 59 would put on some clothes”.

Daniel Beveridge, 56, of Fairways, Dunfermline, admitted that between January 1 2013 and April 16 2014 at his home, he committed an offence of public indecency in that he repeatedly exposed his private member.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the matter came to light after the girl reported seeing Beveridge “standing completely naked” at his window.

After it had happened three or four times, the girl told her gran: “I wish that man at number 59 would put on some clothes,” Ms Yousaf said.

On April 15 at 6.50am, the girl was in Beveridge’s street and saw him fully clothed at the living room window. As she walked past his house shortly afterwards, however, Beveridge was standing at the window completely naked.

Ms Yousaf said the girl felt “uncomfortable and disturbed” and told her gran, who phoned the police.

The next day the girl again saw Beveridge standing naked at the window and this time spoke to one of his neighbours who was outside. Beveridge was detained by police on April 17.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Matheson-Dear said: “It was his practice to sleep naked and walk about his home naked. He wasn’t aware of the comings and goings outside.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair pointed out that on one occasion Beveridge had been seen fully clothed in the morning and then appeared naked.

Sheriff Macnair told Beveridge he is now on the sex offenders register and called for reports. Sentencing will take place on February 18.
