There will be a number of specific events held at the Mills Observatory throughout the summer, as well as planned educational trips.
Plans to cut back summer opening hours at Mills Observatory have been defended by Leisure and Culture Dundee after Lorraine Kelly joined the campaign against the plans.
The observatory has operated two separate opening patterns in recent years, from October to March and April to September, and the plans will see it operating seven days a week only during the winter season.
However, there will be a number of specific events held at the observatory throughout the summer, as well as planned educational trips.
A spokeswoman for Leisure and Culture Dundee said despite being closed to the general public there will still be a programme of science learning and engagement activities during the summer.
She said: “As part of ongoing work to plan ahead for the forthcoming summer season, Leisure and Culture Dundee is in discussions with the Mills Observatory Advisory Group, Dundee Astronomical Society and Dundee Science Centre.”
