An Angus crane driver was pulled to safety in a rescue more than 100ft in the air.
The man, believed to be from Montrose, started suffering severe chest pains while working at The Beeches Gate building site on Springfield Road, Aberdeen.
Workers looked on as the operation unfolded.
Phil Starrs, a contract worker at the site, said: “The crane boy went up to his work as normal. All of a sudden he needed help and needed an ambulance.
“He was feeling a lot of pain in his chest and a bit of nausea as well.”
He was responsive throughout but was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
The emergency call was made to the Scottish Ambulance Service at 10.40am on Tuesday.
The ambulance crew called the fire brigade for assistance due to the height of the crane.
After an hour-long operation, the man, believed to be in his forties, was brought down thanks to the work of firefighters and paramedics.
