A leading player in the UK holiday park market is eyeing new Scottish opportunities after turning around a major Perthshire site following a £2.5 million investment.
Nottingham-based Richmond Wight Estates (RWE) bought over Glendevon Country Park near Dollar last year and has invested heavily to bring the site up to standard.
The firm said Glendevon had been “failing” at the time it took charge, but its transformation programme had started to pay dividends.
The company said 10 new families had moved into the park this year and it is selling two luxury lodges at the site each month.
RWE said planning permission had now been granted for the development of a further 78 plots at Glendevon, a move that would more than double the site’s current capacity.
“Acquiring Glendevon Park gave us the opportunity to establish a park in another part of Scotland other than the north east,” said Danny McInnes of RWE.
“Offering a location in sought-after Perthshire has definitely opened up new markets for us. This location is very strong for leisure opportunities, with the golfing mecca of Gleneagles just up the road and first-class fishing rights.”
Glendevon is RWE’s third property in Scotland it also has parks in Lossiemouth and Forres and its total investment to date is around £4.5m.
The firm has confirmed it is looking to build on its success north of the border and is scouting out new opportunities as part of a three-year business and investment plan.
