Angus College assault teenager may be sent to learn ‘motivational skills’

A teenager who carried out an assault at a college in Angus by punching, kicking and kneeing his victim could be offered a place on a community-based programme.
Aaron Dunn, 18, of Logan Terrace, Dundee, may embark on the scheme run by Venture Trust a charity that aims to make a difference to people with “chaotic pasts” and “uncertain futures.”
Dunn was given a 12-month community payback order in November 2011 but on Wednesday admitted breaching that order.
He had admitted that on February 3 2011, at Angus Council service training, Angus College, Keptie Road, Arbroath, he assaulted a man by repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body and kneeing him on the face.
He also pled guilty to repeatedly attempting to enter the college building on the same date.
Solicitor Steve Lafferty, defending, told Perth Sheriff Court his client had shown an interest in the Venture Trust programme.
“My client was very enthusiastic about this programme,” he said. “It would involve him going away for 10 days and learning motivational skills.”
