An Angus man has been banned from entering Arbroath after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and a child.
Robert William McPhee, 25, of Wellbraehead, Forfar, was granted bail by Sheriff Way at Dundee Sheriff Court after he admitted three charges following the evidence of two children at the jury trial.
McPhee had gone on trial accused of several separate charges which included assaulting a woman and a child in Arbroath in August.
After the two children gave evidence through a video link from another courtroom, McPhee changed his plea to guilty to three of the charges.
He admitted that on August 17, at the garden of a house in Arbroath, he assaulted a child by striking him on the head with the back of his hand.
He further admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner causing fear and alarm, shouting and swearing at the woman while holding a knife; and assaulting the woman in the garden of the house, knocking her to the ground, punching and kicking her on the head, all to her injury.
Sheriff Way granted him bail with the condition that McPhee does not enter Arbroath and sentence was deferred until January 8 for reports.
