A Perthshire man has denied smuggling about £1 million worth of cocaine through the Channel Tunnel.
Clive Gillies, 46, of Station Road, Birnam, pleaded not guilty at Canterbury Crown Court to a charge that on May 29 last year, he was involved in the importation of just under a kilo of the class A drug at the freight control centre at Coquelles, outside Calais, France.
Gillies had previously appeared at Folkestone Magistrates Court when he made no plea to the charge. He is now expected to stand trial on September 9 and the hearing is understood to be set for five days.
