TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has said she insisted her recent bikini photos not be photoshopped or altered in any way.

Kelly, 55, posed in a floral bikini to launch Lorraine’s Bikini Promise campaign.

The campaign, launching next week, aims to encourage women to follow a five-week plan to make them fit and healthy and give them confidence to wear a bikini, no matter their age, shape or size.

Speaking at the Glamour Women of the Year awards, Kelly said: “Oh my goodness me, I was very nervous about it, I really was.

“But I thought, ‘I’m 55, I’ve got a tummy, I’ve got a big scar on my leg. If I can do it, anyone can do it’.

“Also, it’s really funny because the photographer said, ‘Oh, we can smooth all of that out and we can make your waist smaller’, and I’m like, ‘No, we can’t, it’s got to be not touched up because that’s what’s it’s all about, it’s got to be real’.

“It’s all about saying, ‘Look, wear your bikini with pride, it doesn’t matter what age you are’.”

Kelly also said she feels more confident now than she was in her younger years.

She said: “It’s just experience and I think you get to a stage where you’re not hard on yourself, because I think women, especially, are very hard on themselves, and you just get to an age where you think, ‘Ah, I’m all right, you know’.”

She also commented on the recent Vanity Fair photos showing Bruce Jenner’s transition to Caitlyn Jenner.

She said: “It’s absolutely gorgeous, what a brave, brave girl. I mean, how brave and that’s going to help so many people that are in transition.

“It’s going to help them so much because they’ll think, ‘Wow what a role model’.

“I think it’s going to help them so much, I think it’s fantastic. Girl power to her.”
