A park and ride scheme for the west of Dundee is a step closer after a planning application was lodged with the city council.
Around 400 parking spaces are proposed at a site off Riverside Avenue by regional transport partnership TACTRAN and Dundee City Council.
The scheme allows for people to park at the Riverside Avenue venue and then use public transport for the final leg of their journey. If the application is approved, it is hoped the facility will be ready for use by 2015.
Although bus services from the site are yet to be finalised, planners hope to use the most up-to-date and clean vehicles.
A TACTRAN spokesman and Dundee City Council said: “We are confident that the proposed facilities will be well used and contribute to cutting congestion and improving air quality on approach to and in Dundee city centre.
“More than a dozen different locations on the western approaches to Dundee city centre were investigated before this one at Riverside Avenue was proposed.”
