A former Angus solicitor and Boys’ Brigade stalwart has died at his home. He was 52.

Father-of-two Ken Scott, who worked as an associate with Blackadders in Dundee, died in Carnoustie on Monday.

Mr Scott was born in 1961 and educated at Dundee University. He qualified with LLB (Hons) and DipLP in 1984 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1985. After his training at Thornton Dickie & Brand, Mr Scott became a solicitor at North East Fife District Council before moving to Edinburgh to join the Bank of Scotland’s legal team.

In 1990 he became an associate with Pagan Osborne Grace & Calders before joining Blackadders in 1994. Mr Scott spent 19 years as an associate at Blackadders, working in the commercial property unit.

In addition, he spent many years as course organiser and tutor on the company and commercial course in the diploma in legal practice at Dundee University.

Mr Scott was very active for many years with 1st Carnoustie Boys’ Brigade as a junior section officer and company secretary, and the company said his loss is a huge blow to the community.

Company captain Neil Russell said: “Ken was a great servant of the company and a real confidant of mine. He’ll be sadly missed by the boys and fellow officers.”

Mr Scott was an associate in the Blackadders commercial property team, and the firm spoke of “great sadness” at his death.

Chairman Sandy Meiklejohn said: “Ken will be greatly missed by us all.

“Our thoughts go out to his wife Jane and daughters Clare and Louise at this very difficult time.”

The funeral will take place on Monday at 2pm in Carnoustie Parish Church, thereafter at Park Grove Crematorium, Friockheim for 3.30pm. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited and donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Diabetes UK at the church and crematorium.
