On Monday, The Courier launches its five-part Sex and Society investigation.
Over the course of the week we will expose the scale of prostitution in Tayside and discover the effect it is having on those involved, from the people who live in what have become red-light districts to the women – and children – involved in prostitution.
We also examine how the sex industry has grown because of the internet. Women working as “escorts” are able to take advantage of grey areas in the law to sell sex from flats and hotels across Scotland.
And we discover why women working as lap dancers believe they are unfairly stigmatised for their roles in the sex industry and why others believe the trade is demeaning to women.
We will also show how the internet has led to an explosion of sexual behaviour that will shock many and how access to hardcore pornography could be damaging the way our children view and form relationships.
