Pupils and staff from Methilhill Primary held an assembly to celebrate their return to the school. The entire school roll was moved to temporary accommodation in the grounds of Buckhaven High while a £2.8m upgrade was carried out on the building. The work included a new roof with solar-control glass, a sprinkler system, new windows, doors and carpets and an upgraded CCTV system. The project was part of the Wind and Watertight investment programme to improve and maintain Fife’s school buildings. Provost Jim Leishman joined the youngsters for the assembly to celebrate the completion of the work. He said: “I’m delighted to share in the excitement this project has created. “Here in Fife we’re committed to making sure our school buildings match the high standards of learning and teaching that happens inside them.” Methilhill headteacher Barbara Thomson added: “We’re delighted with what is almost a brand-new school and are very happy to be back.”
