Stag party assault victim Craig Beharrie is recovering at home and planning a new wedding date with his fiancee.
On Saturday we told how Craig (30) and Claire Tracey (26) had to postpone their big day after Craig underwent emergency brain surgery (link).
Craig was assaulted by thugs in Liverpool and sustained a fractured skull and a blood clot on his brain.
Despite his horrendous tale, when although being in “terrible pain” staff at Ninewells initially refused him an X-ray, he says he and Claire are just concentrating on getting their wedding arrangements back on track.
“It’s just one of those things that happens,” he said of the attack which came in the early hours of July 30. “I can’t remember too much about it I just remember waking up in A&E.
“I’ve still got quite a bit of pain but it’s more uncomfortable than horrendous. I’ve just got to take it easy for a few weeks.
“Claire has been really worried, as have the rest of my family, but it’s great to be home. I’m just being chilled out watching football on TV and just taking it easy.
“We’re looking at some time in October for the wedding. We just have to make sure it fits in with all the family,” Craig added.
“It’s not quite 100% yet but it will be round about the middle of October. And we’re trying to sort out our honeymoon as well we were supposed to be going to Italy in three weeks.
“I’m thinking about another stag do too, but I think Claire will have something to say about that.”
Craig’s father Stuart has written to NHS Tayside regarding their procedures following their refusal to have his head injury X-rayed.
Craig’s story also prompted another Dundee family to contact the Courier to tell how they were also refused an X-ray at Ninewells (link).
