A pupil of Braeview Academy in Dundee has been reported after allegedly assaulting the school’s deputy head teacher.
Depute rector Raymond Perry is said to have been struck by the 14-year-old female in front of a room full of pupils.
The incident unfolded in the school dinner hall, while a number of other pupils were having lunch. It is said to have come about after Mr Perry tried to play peacemaker in a lunchtime scuffle.
It is understood the pupil had got into a fight with two other pupils in the dining hall at breaktime. Mr Perry is then believed to have attempted to break up the dispute and was himself allegedly struck in the face as he intervened. A pupil was sent home immediately after the drama.
Police confirmed officers had been notified of the incident and that a pupil had been reported to the Youth Justice Assessor, formerly the children’s reporter.
A spokeswoman said: ”Tayside Police received a report of an incident at a secondary school in Dundee. Following inquiries, a 14-year-old girl has been reported to the Youth Justice Assessor for further consideration.”
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: ”Tayside Police were contacted and they are now investigating.”
