Dundee United fans in moving tribute to ‘great Arab’ James following death aged 31

Dundee United supporters staged a moving tribute to a devoted fan following his death aged just 31.

The Arabs were joined by the Inverness Caledonian Thistle support as they paid respects to local man James Jack during the 31st minute of Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-final clash.

Banners were lifted in memory of James during the minute’s applause, with one reading: “James Jack – forever in our hearts”.

Another stated: “RIP JJ”.

Fans also took part in a march from The Snug Bar to Tannadice in memory of the United fanatic, who is said to have died recently.

The Dundee United Supporters’ Foundation described the minute’s applause at Tannadice as a “wonderful and heartfelt tribute to a great Arab”.

Posting about James’ passing prior to the game, the group wrote on Facebook: “With great sadness, the Dundee United Family lost one of our finest a few weeks back when James Jack sadly passed away aged just 31

“In tribute to James on Sunday before the game against Inverness there will be a march from The Snug Bar at 3pm to Tannadice to which all are invited.

“In addition there will be a minutes applause held during the game at the 31st minute in remembrance of a true gent . RIP James Jack.”
