Appeal to bring lost Masterton Primary mascot Dexter back home

Dexter went missing on Saturday April 27 in Edinburgh.
Dexter went missing on Saturday April 27 in Edinburgh.

Children at a Fife school have been left distraught after the loss of their beloved mascot.

Staff at Masterton Primary School in Dunfermline have launched an appeal on social media for the safe return of Dexter, a toy koala that has been the school’s mascot for more than a decade.

It is thought Dexter was misplaced at some point on Saturday, amid suggestions he may have been lost at the Victor Paris Bathroom showroom in Edinburgh’s Dundee Street.

Louise Reekie, administration assistant at the school in Aberdour Road, said the children had been “very upset” by what has happened and hopes someone will be able to bring Dexter home.

“Dexter has been with us since we opened 12 years ago and every week he goes home with one child and they take him on weekend adventures, take pictures and write about their time with him,” she explained.

“He has had many wonderful trips and made hundreds of friends, but unfortunately went missing last Saturday.

“We would love to get him back as he is very special to the school and to our children.”

Anyone who thinks they can help should contact Masterton Primary School on 01383 602455 or email mastertonps.enquiries@fife.gov.uk.

The school has stressed it will be happy to collect Dexter or pay postage costs to bring him home.
