Dundee United fans queue up on city street overnight as hundreds vie for play-off tickets

A queue of 600 people formed on Tannadice Street on Tuesday morning as Dundee United fans queued up for tickets to the game which could bring the side back to the Scottish Premiership.

Fans are said to have camped-up outside the club shop overnight in a bid to grab tickets to the decisive match against St Mirren on Sunday, May 26.

However United has warned that many of those queuing up will not secure tickets to the away game, with the club allocated just 1500 tickets.

The Arabs will welcome the Buddies to Tannadice on Thursday in the first leg of the play-off finals before heading to Paisley for the game which could send them back to Scottish football’s top tier.

United have been in the Championship for three seasons now.

At about 7.30am, Dundee United FC tweeted: “With the queue at the ticket centre over 600 people long, it is anticipated that anyone arriving now would be unlikely to secure a ticket for the away leg.

“This is based on our allocation being just below 1500 and the average transaction expected to be over three tickets.”

Sunday’s game kicks off at 3pm.
