Colin Loveday states his aims for Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce

Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce’s new president believes its three guiding principles should be participation, collaboration and relevance.

Colin Loveday is managing director of 4G Scotland, an independent communications consultancy and mobile network partner.

His appointment to succeed property developer Tim Allan is evidence that the chamber is keeping up with the times in choosing a figure from the digital technology sector as its new leader.

The 46-year-old, originally from West Sussex, came to Scotland in 2002.

After working for Nokia, Sanyo and Nestle, he saw the arrival of 4G technology as an industry with potential and set up his firm in Edinburgh in 2013.

Organisations are able to greatly improve the way they work through 4G services which allow quicker web surfing on mobiles, tablets and laptops.

After moving home to Tayport, he joined the Dundee and Angus Chamber in 2014.

“I completely believe in the chamber network,” he said.

“When I launched my business I joined the Edinburgh chamber and found it was great for meeting other business people and learning from them.

“I got a lot out of my chamber membership and joining here and being appointed to the board has given me an opportunity to put something back in.”

Colin, the present vice-president, will take up the two-year post after next week’s chamber board meeting.

Refraining from commenting in detail about his intentions as president before discussions with his fellow board members, he is determined the chamber should continue to play a full and positive role in the economic life of the area.

“Our chamber is growing with membership up to about 450, and there is a great range of expertise among the members,” he said.

“I think Tim Allan has been a fantastic president, and I want to continue the good work he has done and continue to see the expertise of the membership help the chamber and help business in this area improve.

“I want us to participate and collaborate, and I believe we should also continue to be relevant to promote the interests of business and the chamber.”
