International performance materials group Low & Bonar said its artificial grass business had started the year well.
The company’s yarns division produces artificial grass surfaces and carpet-backing products at Caldrum Works in Dundee and at a sister plant in Abu Dhabi.
The division had suffered a “difficult year” in the 12 months to November 2012 with turnover dropping by 13.4% to £26.5 million and a loss of £1.8m.
However, in an interim statement ahead of the general meeting on Tuesday the firm said its flooring, industrial, transport and artificial grass yarns sectors had started the current year well.
Demand for its civil engineering products had been slower though with the harsh weather conditions across Europe in recent months hitting sales.
No specific figures pertaining to current trading were made available.
Overall, the firm said it was continuing to invest for future growth and it remained on track to deliver another year of progress.
All 11 resolutions raised at the annual meeting were duly passed.
