New £600,000 Co-op in Fife gets ready for customers

Co-Op Auchtermuchty is a £600,000 investment.
Co-Op Auchtermuchty is a £600,000 investment.

Co-op has invested more than £600,000 to create and fit-out the new, larger convenience store in Fife.

The company said the new Auchtermuchty branch, which opens on Friday, will support 14 jobs.

The Low Road shop is almost 3,000 sq ft in size, significantly larger than the 1,200 sq ft High Street shop it replaces.

The building runs on 100% renewable electricity and opens between 6am and 10pm daily.

It includes Post Office services, a free ATM and customer car parking.

Fife bakery to supply Co-op

Ryan Scullion, Co-op’s area manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to create a new, improved and larger store to serve the community.

“We have worked to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a really compelling offer to serve Auchtermuchty.”

The store also offers Co-op’s Fairtrade coffee dispenser, a bakery and an increased focus on fresh products.

There is a wider range of products in the new Fife Co-Op shop.

The Co-op will also have pastries, rolls and cakes supplied from Fife bakery Stephens.

A unit is also available to enable the community to recycle soft plastics including crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots and biscuit wrappers.

Compostable carrier bags are also available for shoppers who forget their reusable bag.
