Dundee tech firm GoRoadie says it can help driving instructors earn more money through its ‘revolutionary’ app.
GoRoadie, founded by Michael Carr and Barry White, allows learner drivers to search for and book their ideal driving instructor.
The company created GoRoadie Pro, an app that can be used by learners to book lessons and track their progress.
But it can also be used by instructors to plan their schedule and make sure they are making the best use of their time.

Mr Carr, the company’s chief executive, said: “We’re bracing ourselves for an impact from rising costs on instructors.
“Our mission is to make instructors’ lives better. Through our app, we do that.
“It reduces cancellations because we do a check-in process.
“If there is a last-minute cancellation, instructors can offer that out to people.
“If they are starting to feel the pinch, our software will make them more money.
“There is an opportunity to use our app to earn more money and become more efficient.”
The app, developed with the help of driving instructors in Dundee, is now being used across the UK.
“We are the best solution for any driving instructor in the UK,” Mr Carr said.
“Our app is now used by instructors in the valleys of Wales to Portsmouth and Inverness.
“They are telling us it’s effortless and making their lives so much easier.”
Next steps for GoRoadie
The next step for the company is to develop software for driving schools.
It would allow the schools to manage several instructors, Mr Carr said.
“We looked at the competition and we know we can far exceed what they do.
“Hopefully we will launch that in the next couple of months.”
Mr Carr said it is an exciting time for the business, having successfully navigated the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We had no idea where the business would be coming out of Covid,” he said.
“We’re at the point where we’ve got a lot of exciting opportunities in the pipeline.”
More staff required
Meanwhile, the city-based tech firm has increased its headcount in the past year.
It now has five staff and Mr Carr said there are plans to recruit further at the beginning of next year.
He added: “We want to hire someone to offer support and be there for instructors.
“We need more engineers too.”
