An Arbroath publican is selling up after 19 “unforgettable” years running a much-loved bar and restaurant.

Paula Batard, owner of The Old Brewhouse, has put the popular harbour-front venue on the market as she plans to retire.

The established business, which sits on the edge of the historic fishing town’s old harbour, includes six en-suite letting rooms and a beer garden.

It is being marketed by Christie & Co for offers over £725,000.

Paula said the decision to sell was not easy, but she feels the time is right to move on after nearly two decades of memories with guests, staff and the local community.

Arbroath publican’s ‘journey has been filled with hard work’

She said: “After 19 unforgettable years, I have made the decision to sell The Old Brewhouse.

“This journey has been filled with hard work, joy, and countless memories shared with our wonderful guests, staff and the local community.

“What started as a dream turned into a home – for myself, my family, my team and so many people who came through the doors over the years.”

Paula added: “It’s not easy to say goodbye, but it feels like the right time for a new chapter, both for me and for the business.

“I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and deeply grateful for the support, loyalty and friendships we’ve built over nearly two decades.”

Tony Spence, associate director at Christie & Co, said the business offers excellent potential for a new owner.

He said: “We are delighted to be involved in the sale of The Old Brewhouse, an exceptional bar and restaurant with rooms.

“This well-performing business is ideally positioned for an incoming purchaser and offers plenty of scope for growth.

“We would urge any interested parties to get in touch for further information.”

Elsewhere, a new laundrette has been approved opposite a Carnoustie hotel.
