We take a look at some established hotels that are looking for new ownership.
1. Claymore Hotel, Pitlochry
This charming guest house in the Perthshire town of Pitlochry is on sale for £1.6 million.
The property has 11 en-suite guest rooms, four self-contained flats as well as detached owner’s accommodation.
Agent Graham and Sibbald said the hotel has been “sympathetically modernised, seamlessly blending the traditional features with modern design”.
The brochure adds: “The business for sale is a fantastic lifestyle business with a strong local following and frequent return customers.
“As the owners move on to pastures new they have left behind a great business for the purchasers to benefit from in the long term.”
2. Airlie Arms, Kirriemuir
This property was acquired 10 years ago by Dilys Ewart and her father Barrie after a period of closure.
Since then, the bar, kitchen and each of the 10 bedrooms were refurbished. The old restaurant was then replaced to add a further five bedrooms.
It is now a gathering place for the community, with a popular beer garden.
Dilys explained her reasons for the sale to The Courier in March.
The property was initially listed for £1.1m but is now being sold by CCL for £945,000.
3. Royal George Hotel, Perth
Overlooking the River Tay, this hotel was constructed in the mid-19th century, although its origins as a licensed hostelry date back 245 years.
On sale for £2.5 million, this 46-bedroom hotel also boasts the full range of bar, restaurant, function and meeting room facilities.
Perth Gin Distillery is located within the hotel with an adjacent beer garden.
The business has revenue of around £1.5m a year.

This Perth Road hotel has been on the market for close to a year with a £3m asking price.
It comes with a freehold for the 10-bedroom hotel, two apartments, function areas and gardens.
The operators of the hotel signed a lease in 2021 which lasts for 10 years, making this an income-generating investment.
The four-star hotel was built in 1863 for Alexander Low, a wealthy flax and jute merchant. It has since been used for a variety of purposes including a training centre, care home and medical research offices.
The hotel has featured on the TV show Four in a Bed.
5. Glencarse Hotel, Glencarse
The hotel has been under the same ownership since 2013, but they are now looking to retire.
There are five rooms for let as well as owner’s accommodation which has three bedrooms. There is also a pub and restaurant in the building as well as a fully-fitted commercial kitchen.
Agent Christie & Co said: “The former 18th century coaching inn trades consistently well and offers genuine potential for growth going forward.”
