Forging links between Tayside and the energy capital of the world will be the focus of a new business event taking place in Dundee next week.
The annual Aberdeen-Houston Gateway has become a much-anticipated fixture on the business calendar, sparking interest from both sides of the Atlantic in the opportunity to network and share knowledge on an international platform.
This year’s seventh annual event will see the international visitors from Texas also visit Dundee next Wednesday.
Event organiser Brett Jackson, of Granite PR, said visiting Dundee was a “natural progression” for the event. He said: “Last year was our best attended Aberdeen-Houston Gateway since 2014, clearly demonstrating the appetite which still exists for the knowledge this event imparts to delegates.
“Taking the event to Dundee is a natural progression for the event and we hope that it will serve as a useful, international addition to the local business networking calendar.”
The event has been created as a platform for Scottish and American delegates to explore business opportunities as well as share knowledge.
Making the trip to Scotland will be a delegation of leading Houston business representatives.
Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce will host a lunch. The group will also visit DC Thomson before taking tours of the V&A and HMS Discovery.
Networking and knowledge sharing opportunities will combine with an examination of how to further strengthen the links between the locations.
Jeffrey Blair, director Europe, Middle East & Africa for the Greater Houston Partnership, said: “I am keen to hear about what is new and to share what is new in the area of innovation in Greater Houston, centred around energy but also in other industries that have crossover appeal.”
