Trains between Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh faced disruption on Monday after a car crashed into a railway bridge. ScotRail said services to and from Aberdeen were disrupted following the incident, which happened at Union Street, Monifieth. The services which have been affected are between Inverurie and Edinburgh as well as Glasgow to Aberdeen. A ScotRail spokeswoman said: “We are aware that a vehicle has hit a railway bridge in Monifieth and Police Scotland is investigating. “There may be some delay to rail services between Inverurie to Edinburgh and Glasgow to Aberdeen.” A Police Scotland spokesman said nobody had been injured and that the stricken vehicle would be recovered on Monday afternoon. British Transport Police also attended to asses damage to the bridge. It is not thought to be serious and trains were expected to begin running again in the early afternoon.
