Ford’s E-Transit Custom van is cheaper to buy (and run) than diesel model

With incredible prices on Ford’s E-Transit vans and Ranger PHEV, is it the time to switch to EV?

Incredible offers on Ford EV vans at Kirkcaldy Ford Centre mean you can save big when you choose electric.

We all know electric vehicles are the future, but it can be tricky to judge when it’s the right time to make the switch – especially when it comes to hard-working vans and commercial vehicles.

While we all know the environmental benefits of EVs (Electric Vehicles) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles), concerns about cost and worries about range and charging can be responsible delaying the decision to ‘go electric’.

However, at Kirkcaldy Ford Centre there’s currently offers on the E-Transit van, E-Transit Custom and Ranger PHEV pick-up that signal a significant turning point.

Quite simply, if you’re in the market for a new van or pick-up for your business, now is the time to buy electric.

Buy an E-Transit Custom van for LESS than a diesel

The current offers mean that you can now buy an E-Transit Custom van from Kirkcaldy Ford Centre for LESS than its diesel counterpart. That’s not all. Ford will also pay the price of installing a charge point so you don’t need to worry about that either.

Tempted? We spoke to Stuart Prentice, group marketing executive at Kirkcaldy Ford Centre, to find out more.

Stuart told us: “Now it’s actually cheaper to buy an electric van than a diesel van because of our current offers – the E-Transit Custom is actually £5000 cheaper than its diesel equivalent. And not only is it cheaper to buy, it’s cheaper to run too.”

Current offers at Kirkcaldy Ford Centre make switching an EV van a money-saving choice.

Average fuel cost savings are £154 a month

Indeed, the savings don’t just stop at the purchase price as Stuart explained: “The average fuel saving on an electric van versus a diesel van is £154 a month (based on 12,000 miles per year). However, people can have reservations about the range of an electric vehicle, especially for commercial vehicles.

“When it comes to range you can get 209 miles from the E-Transit from a full charge. Often people think they need more than that, but actually, as a driver or a business owner that uses vans, when you sit down and look at it, 210 miles will cover the weekly use for most businesses.”

Charge point installation costs are taken care of

When it comes to charging your new electric van, Ford have you covered for that too. “There’s always been the issue of having to install a charge point for your vehicle, but Ford are currently installing home chargers with any van for £10,” said Stuart.

“If you don’t want to install a home charger for your van, they will effectively give you the price of the home charger that you can use to install a charge point at your workplace.

“It’s part of Ford’s Power Promise. They’re listening to people. It’s their answer to the issue of people not having anywhere to charge their electric vehicles. Ford is removing that barrier.”

With these offers available at Kirkcaldy Ford Centre, the case for switching to an electric van is undoubtedly strong – and the offers don’t stop there.

Five years free servicing and breakdown cover

Additionally, with every new Ford electric van, you’ll also get five years free servicing and breakdown cover. It seems like the perfect package – a lower purchase price, lower running costs, charge point expenses taken care of, five years free servicing and free breakdown cover?

Stuart assures us these offers are not too good to be true and there’s no catch. The savings are real, but they will only be available for a limited time.

“With these Ford offers, if you’ve been thinking about making the switch to an electric van but the price and associated costs have been putting you off, now is the time to do it. These prices won’t be around forever.”

Now is the time to switch to an E-Transit or Ranger PHEV

He added: “The reality is that electric vehicles are going to happen. Everyone is going to have to drive an electric vehicle in the future, and it’s now getting to the stage where it is cheaper to both buy and run them.

“For commercial customers, we understand they have lots of questions regarding driving electric vehicles and whether or not they are right for their business. Just pop in and speak to one of our commercial team. They can answer your questions and talk you through how an electric van will work for you and your business.”

So, is it the right time for your business to make the switch to an EV? When you visit Kirkcaldy Ford Centre for your new E-Transit or Ranger PHEV, the answer is most definitely yes.
