An Aberdeenshire landscaping business and garden centre has credited diversification and “great staff” after increasing turnover by almost 13%.
Beechwood Services, based near Laurencekirk, saw turnover grow from £1.2 million in 2018, to £1.4m for the year ending March 31 2019.
The increase saw the firm, move from a pre-tax loss of £9,969 in 2018, to a pre-tax profit of £16,973 this year.
The company, founded in 1998, originally focussed solely on landscaping and fencing.
It benefitted from the oil related housing boom in the north east and stopped taking private work to concentrate on housing development projects.
The company diversified the business with the introduction of a garden centre around six years ago, before adding a coffee shop to the offering.
Director, Sarah Donald, said: “We have definitely had a good year and the coffee shop has been a great success, making a substantial contribution to our growth, with turnover now split almost evenly between the two parts of the business.”
