Leading innovators in the energy storage industry will gather at a flagship event at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) in Dundee today.

The seminar will showcase Scotland’s strengths in energy storage, as well as highlighting key supply chain opportunities.

The event will take place in a refurbished storage warehouse that is now a conference venue at Michelin’s tyre factory site.

MSIP is a joint venture between Dundee City Council, Michelin and Scottish Enterprise.

The event will bring together key industry leaders involved in the development of cutting-edge technologies in energy storage.

Speakers, including representatives from Talgo, AMTE Energy, the Arcola Energy and the University of St Andrews, will demonstrate how these new technologies can be used in the transition to clean transport.

A range of exhibitions and live demonstrations will also take place throughout the day.

John Reid, factory manager at Michelin Dundee and chief executive of Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, said: “This is a really exciting event, bringing together trail blazers, suppliers, innovators, support agencies, funders and companies involved in the development of new innovative technologies that will change the world.

“By hosting this event, we are demonstrating the talent and collaboration opportunities we have in Scotland, to take on climate change and achieve the goal of zero carbon.

“This is our chance to show leaders in the energy industry what MSIP can offer and to continue our collaboration with key industry leaders.

“I’m delighted MSIP can play its part in hosting an event like this.”

A range of exhibitions and live demonstrations will take place throughout the day.

Talgo will showcase a high-speed electric train carriage, the Advanced Propulsion Centre consortium will exhibit a next generation lithium battery pack for electric vehicles and surrey based AFC Energy will demonstrate a rapid off-grid electric vehicle charger that converts hydrogen into AC power which is used to charge electric vehicles.
