Dundee airport airline Loganair has appointed Jonathan Hinkles as its new managing director.

The former chief operating officer at Loganair, returns after four years at Virgin Atlantic where he has been vice-president of operations and crewing.

He will replace Stewart Adams, who left Loganair at the end of April.

Loganair chairman David Harrison said: “We are extremely pleased that Jonathan is rejoining the company.

“During his previous time here he became well-known and respected by all our stakeholders.

“His extensive industry experience, expanded by four years at the sharp end of the Virgin Atlantic operation, combined with his deep knowledge of the Loganair operation, means Jonathan is uniquely well-qualified to lead Loganair in the coming years.

“He joins at an important time for the company, as we continue to implement previously announced initiatives to ensure punctuality and customer service are fully returned to the levels our customers have rightly come to expect over many years.”

The new managing director said: “I’m familiar with the airline and its markets from my earlier time as chief operating officer. It’s an exciting and challenging time for the business.

“Loganair has a strong heritage and a loyal customer base and, as managing director, I plan to build on this going forward.”

Loganair operates 31 routes across the Scottish Highlands & Islands and the rest of the UK, earlier this year announced a significant £15m investment programme.

Owned and headquartered in Scotland, the airline was founded in 1962 and employs approximately 600 staff to undertake more than 600 air services each week using a fleet of 29 aircraft.

Carrying more than half a million passengers, it is a franchise partner of Flybe at Dundee where it flies to London Stansted.

Loganair is also a codeshare partner of British Airways, and has arrangements with other airlines to provide interline connections.
