Major independent catering group Entier Limited has bought over Perthshire food and events company Wilde Thyme.

Based in Comrie, Wild Thyme has been operating for 13 years and holds a number of exclusive catering contracts including those for Glamis Castle, Carlowie Castle and Glenturret Distillery.

The business has also catered for high profile events such as the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and the Dunhill Links Championship.

Wild Thyme’s new owner is based at Westhill near Aberdeen and is keen to expand its presence in the events and weddings sector.

Entier has long established links to the North Sea energy industry, but also works in the education and care sectors and has developed its own fresh food retail brand.

It confirmed that Wild Thyme would continue operating under its established brand name while integrating into the Entier group.

“This is truly an exciting opportunity,” Entier chief executive Peter Bruce said.

“This not only enhances and complements our existing service but positions us strongly within this market across Scotland.”

Wild Thyme managing director Andrew Hamer – a former executive chef at Gleneagles Hotel – will continue in his role alongside the chefs and event management teams currently in place.

Mr Hamer said the only change Entier and Wilde Thyme customers would see would be positive ones.

He said: “The merging of our two companies will provide a springboard to further expand in this market and we are looking forward to being part of the Entier Group and the opportunities that lie ahead.”
