A Dundee firm which makes isolation modules for high-risk work has entered into a new partnership in Australia.
Safehouse Habitats has formed a new company with Aboriginal-owned firm Redspear Safety.
The venture will be called Safespear with a pledge to be at “the sharp end of safety”.
Safehouse and Redspear have a long history of working with many of the world’s oil majors around the globe.
The firms said that by coming together they would offer the marketplace an “un-surpassed and diverse offering of highly specialised services under the one brand”.
Based at Claverhouse Industrial Park, Safehouse’s products to protect people in hazardous environments including offshore and onshore oil and gas production facilities, chemical processing plants, distilleries and food production and processing factories, utilities, marine and water treatment.
Safespear chairman Barry McGuire said: “This new venture with Safehouse will allow the business to fully diversify in the supply of a wide range of safety solutions, services and products to effectively manage hazardous working environments in both onshore and offshore settings.
“Furthermore, it gives us the opportunity to provide real jobs in regional and remote Australia so that all Australians can plan for their future and the future of their families with confidence.”
A spokesperson for Safehouse, which already had an office in Australia, said the Dundee headquarters would provide additional support to the new venture.
“Safespear is a new company which has been set up in Australia which will allow us better access to certain markets and organisations,” the spokesperson said.
“The office in Dundee will provide additional support as required.
“Safehouse and its product offering will remain as is.”
