Dundee engineering firm GA Scotland has recruited the owner of city firm Diemax Precision Engineering to be its new managing director.
Peter Donnelly said it was a difficult decision to close the doors of the well-regarded Dundee engineering outfit, which has traded since 1983.
However, the discussion to take the MD role of GA Scotland and sister company GA Sliding Head came at a time that Diemax needed significant investment.
Diemax’s five staff have also moved to GA Scotland, which is part of the Pryme Group.
Mr Donnelly said: “I am excited about what the future holds for myself and the team here at GA Scotland and GA Sliding Head as well as the benefits these increased resources can bring to our existing clients and suppliers.
“It has not been an easy decision but, ultimately, we reached the point at Diemax where the business required additional investment in order to remain competitive.
“Moreover, being part of the larger Pryme Group will bring genuine career progression opportunities to our employees, who can build upon their existing engineering skills and gain experience of working in other sectors, including oil and gas.”
Diemax had been located at 10,000 sq ft premises on Kingsway Park and provided CNC precision machining, milling and turning to clients in the aerospace and electronics industries throughout the UK and internationally
It fulfilled all of its order book before its five employees transferred to GA.
Based at Tom Johnston Road in Dundee, GA Scotland is a leading provider of integrated manufacturing solutions to the oil and gas industry.
Angus Gray, chief executive at Pryme Group, said: “I am pleased to welcome Peter and the rest of the Diemax Precision Engineering team to Pryme Group and look forward to them playing an important role in driving continued growth across our Tayside operations.
“Peter’s knowledge and expertise in working across diverse industry segments, including the aerospace sector, will be of particular benefit to the group and ensure we are well placed to capitalise on new and emerging opportunities across our target markets.”
