A top price of 50,000gn was paid at the Suffolk Sheep Society’s Scottish area sale at Lanark.
Auctioneers Lawrie & Symington sold 164 sheep, through a mixture of ringside and online sales, to average £3,023.25.
In its report, the company said: “Rams met a blistering trade from the off.”
A clearance rate of 78% was achieved and 11 lots sold for five-figure sums.
The sale topper was a January-born ram lamb from Irish breeder Darragh McMenamin’s Mullinvale flock.
An embryo transfer (ET) son of Plassllewelyn Pure Genius, he sold to Fife breeder Stuart Craft for his Lakeview flock at Little Balquhomrie.
Next best at 32,000gn was a December 2019-born ram lamb from Northern Irish breeders Michael and Caolan McNally’s Benedyglen flock.
An ET son of Birness Muzza, he sold to the Delves family’s Bridgeview flock in Wales.
Thereafter, the Stuart family, which runs the Birness flock near Ellon, made 30,000gn and 26,000gn for ram lambs.
The dearest, selling jointly to the McMenamins for their Mullinvale flock and the Liggetts for their Carony flock in Northern Ireland, was a January-born son of Salopian Scuderia.
The 26,000gn lot – a December 2019-born son of Limestone Legacy – sold to Northern Irish breeder Dennis Taylor for his Ballynacannon flock.
Meanwhile, Stuart Craft sold two lots from his Lakeview flock for 26,000gn each to Darrah McMenamin. Both are December 2019 ET sons of Strathbogie Stradivarius.
Other prices included 13,000gn for a January-born ET son of Crewelands Kingpin from Huntly breeder Jim Innes’ Strathbogie flock.
He sold to the Turkingtons for their Beechcroft flock in Northern Ireland.
