Calling all budding young writers, story enthusiasts and bookworms!

We have an exciting new creative challenge for you. We want you to write an original and engaging story about a real life or fictional care hero. You can choose an individual from your own family, local community or let your imagination run wild to invent your very own care superhero.

Primary School

Open to P1 – P7

Imagine, draw and describe your ideal caring superhero and we will pick our five favourites and bring them to life in The Courier.

We would like you to draw write a short story describing your care superhero and their amazing powers and provide us with an awesome drawing of that person or character.

Maximum 250 words plus drawing.

Prize

A £50 Amazon voucher to spend and a year’s subscription to the DC Thomson comic of your choice (three in total).

 

Secondary School

Open to S1 – S6

We want you to write an original story about a real life care hero.

They could be from your family, friends, local community or someone else you admire for their capacity to care for others. The rest is entirely up to you. Maximum 500 words.

Prize

We will pick the top five from all submissions who will each win £50 Amazon voucher and have their story published online and in The Courier.

Top Tips

Don’t just think about looks – what can your superhero do? What are his or her caring powers? What makes your care hero heroic? Heroes don’t have to save the world. Some of the best help in small ways.

Notes for Parents/Guardians

Send your child’s entry to comps@thecourier.co.uk along with a scanned/photo image of their drawing (primary only). Please include name and age of the child along with contact details for parent/guardian.
