Sir Cliff Richard to release new Christmas single

Sir Cliff Richard.
Sir Cliff Richard.

Sir Cliff Richard is set to release his first Christmas single since an investigation into sex allegations was dropped.

The veteran singer, 76, will unveil It’s Better To Dream this month.

The release is a festive mix of a new original song which appears on the star’s latest album Just … Fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll.

It will be released via iTunes and as a special edition Christmas card which includes the CD single and a written message from Sir Cliff.

The singer, who has launched legal action against the BBC and South Yorkshire Police for alleged collusion in the case, retreated from public life during the two-year probe that saw albums and a biography postponed.

Sir Cliff has a long history of releasing songs around the festive season, scoring two Christmas number one singles as a solo artist – Mistletoe And Wine in 1988 and Saviour’s Day in 1990.

He also topped the charts with I Love You with The Shadows in 1960 and as part of Band Aid II with Do They Know It’s Christmas? in 1989.

Just … Fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll was released this month.

It features Sir Cliff’s renditions of songs such as Roll Over Beethoven, Great Balls Of Fire and Sweet Little Sixteen, as well as the new track It’s Better To Dream and his debut single Move It.
