7 places in Dundee and Angus to buy fresh strawberries

All across Dundee and Angus you'll find farms and shops offering tasty berries all summer.

There are few better ways to enjoy summer than with a punnet of fresh strawberries grown just down the road.

Luckily for us, Dundee and Angus is full of both growers and local shops selling delicious strawberries.

Lasting from mid-May to September, strawberry season is long enough for us to enjoy these delights for many months.

Whether you plan to enjoy them as they are or make some tasty bakes or smoothies, there are a range of places you can pick up world-class strawberries.

Here are some of the places you can get strawberries across Angus and Dundee.

Dundee strawberries

Clementine – Broughty Ferry

Opened in 2010, Clementine has become a fixture of Broughty Ferry’s Gray Street thanks to its well-priced fruit and veg boxes.

Cheryle Sexton – who runs the shop – also launched a café and deli concept in 2023.

At Clementine, Cheryle and the team sell 400-gram punnets of Arbuckle strawberries for £3.89. Two punnets can be had for £7.50.

Clementine is open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Fraser’s Fruit and Veg – Dundee

Located on Perth Road, Fraser’s Fruit and Veg is a great spot if you’re on the hunt for local fruit and vegetables.

When it comes to strawberries, owner Fraser Reid sources his from West Friarton Farm.

Fraser sells punnets of these magnificent strawberries for £3.00.

If you’d like to try some, his shop is open 10am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.

Love Your Planet – Broughty Ferry

The zero-waste shop – which was taken over by Melanie Coleman in 2024 – stocks juicy strawberries from Balhungie Berry Farm in Monifieth.

Melanie collects the strawberries from the farm every morning, ensuring they are as fresh as possible. The strawberries are priced at £2.95 a punnet.

Love Your Planet is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm and from 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

Angus strawberries

Charleton Fruit Farm – Montrose

As the name suggests, Charleton Fruit Farm grows its own berries on site.

Because of this, customers can go along and pick their own strawberries, paying £6.99 per kilo.

The berries are also available in the farm shop where a 300-gram punnet costs £3.00.

The popular farm also grows raspberries, blueberries, currants and tayberries, as well as pumpkins, asparagus, peas and apples.

The farm, shop and café are all open from 10am to 4pm every day.

Seahills Farm – Arbroath

Because of the ‘Goldilocks climate’ on the Angus coast, Seahills strawberries are ready very early in the season.

The area’s climate also ensures that Seahills Farm’s strawberries are noticeably sweet and firm.

The farm sells punnets of its classic strawberries from £2.70. Premium strawberries start at £3.20. Both are available via collection.

East Scryne Fruit – Carnoustie

The quaint farm shop and tearoom at East Scryne Farm has offered fresh berries, cakes and coffee for well over a decade.

The farm takes a sustainable approach to growing its strawberries, using coir instead of peat. The berries are picked from the farm’s fields and sold the same day, ensuring that they are incredibly fresh.

A punnet of these strawberries costs £3.00, and the farm shop – which opened for the season on Wednesday April 30 – is open daily from 10am to 4.30pm.

Balhungie Berry Farm – Monifieth

Sitting between Monifieth and Barry, Balhungie Berry Farm is a renowned spot for high-quality, local strawberries.

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm, the family farm sells strawberries straight from its field.

The team sell six varieties – including magnum, Malling centenary and favori – at £2.50 for 400 grams.

They also sell two varieties of raspberries at £2.50 for 250 grams as well as both cherries and blueberries when they are in season.

It’s difficult to find produce fresher and better tasting than this.
