Two people in hospital after crash closes A92 near Cowdenbeath

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash that left the A92 shut near Cowdenbeath.

Emergency services, including five fire engines, were called to the two-vehicle smash just after 7am on Wednesday.

Traffic was at a standstill in the area as the dual carriageway was closed on both sides.

The road has since reopened with traffic queues easing in the area.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed five of its vehicles had been sent to the crash.

Fire crews left the scene at 8.43am and two people were taken to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.10am on Wednesday, police were called to the A92 northbound near to the Cowdenbeath interchange following a road crash involving two cars. The road was closed.

“A female driver and her male passenger were both taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

“The vehicles were removed and the lanes reopened. Police inquiries are ongoing.”
