Rail passengers faced cancellations after a section of wall was knocked onto the railway line between Carnoustie and Arbroath.
Services were suspended on Thursday at around 12.30pm due to debris on the line near Carnoustie train station.
The incident happened while a static caravan was being pulled back between two houses on Ireland Street.
The owner of the caravan, Tony Lindsay, told The Courier that a JCB forklift struck the wall.
He said it was being used to pull the caravan back into his garden.
Trains between Dundee and Aberdeen were either cancelled or terminated at Dundee as workers cleared the resulting debris.
The line was shut for around two hours.
Carnoustie caravan owner ‘phoned 999 immediately’
Tony said: “I phoned 999 immediately and Network Rail arrived within 20 minutes.
“I was pulling the caravan back when the JCB forklift slipped on some sand in the garden.
“It clipped some fencing and breezeblocks which then fell onto a bit of the line.
“The caravan is still two metres away from the line.
“I’m basically using the caravan as a big shed and a social space because all the accommodation has been removed.”
A ScotRail statement at 1.20pm said: “Due to an obstruction on the track between Carnoustie and Arbroath, resulting in debris landing on the railway line.
“The line is currently closed towards from Carnoustie to Arbroath.
“Services from Aberdeen will go through the area at caution.”
An update at 2.30pm said: “Network Rail has removed the debris and the line has now reopened.
“Services may still be subject to delay or revision as we focus on getting trains and crew back into position.”
