Tayside and Fife have new radio stations as the north-east’s Original 106 station expands its reach.
The station took over Kirkcaldy-based Kingdom FM in January, and is now joined by Original Tayside in serving the region.
Original 106, which is owned by The Courier’s parent company, DC Thomson, is Scotland’s fastest-growing radio station.
It is already number one for listeners in Aberdeen and the north-east.
Original 106 Tayside and Original 106 Fife play a mix of music from the ’80s, ’90s and now, with hourly local news bulletins live from The Courier newsrooms.
Dave Connor and Vanessa Motion from Kingdom’s award-winning breakfast show have continued on Original, broadcasting daily to Tayside and Fife listeners.
The presenters’ faces will soon become familiar to people across Courier Country.
They will be on buses promoting both radio shows as the vehicles traverse Dundee, Perth, Dunfermline and Glenrothes this month.
Digital screens promoting the shows will be dotted around these regions, including at Dundee railway station.
Roadside advertisements will feature in Dundee and Perth.
Original 106 broadcasting across Tayside
When the Original rebrand was announced, Dave said: “Being a born-and-bred Fifer and one of the first presenters on Kingdom FM, I’m excited to be part of this latest evolution of the station and expand our Dave and Vanessa breakfast show into Tayside.
“We’re committed to continuing to celebrate Fife, still being locally based at our studios in Kirkcaldy.
“We look forward to welcoming listeners in Dundee and Perth into our radio family.”
Robin Galloway, head of presentation at DC Thomson, said: “The Original 106 relaunch allows us to build on everything great about Kingdom FM, with a new refreshed brand that now also covers Tayside and Fife.”
Original 106 describes the new stations as being “here for this community”.
