An 11-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a Dundee dog attack.
The youngster was taken to Ninewells Hospital on Monday after being bitten by the dog just off South Road.
Police say she suffered a “serious” injury but have not revealed any further details.
One witness told The Courier the girl had been playing with friends when she was attacked.
The witness said: “The kids were playing in the trees on the field between Menzieshill and Charleston behind Tesco on South Road, when the dog went for the girl by grabbing her by the leg and viciously attacking her.
“Police were called and an ambulance came and took the girl to hospital.”

The breed of the dog has not been confirmed, but the onlooker said it looked similar to a Cane Corso.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Monday, we received a report of a dog attack on a path between Forth Crescent and South Road in Dundee.
“An 11-year-old girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital with a serious injury.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
