A Glenrothes care worker who admitted having child abuse images has been struck off.
Gary Sala was placed on the sex offenders register for five years after being convicted of possessing indecent images of children at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in November.
The 61-year-old from Kirkcaldy had the images between March 2022 and October 2023.
He was also sentenced to a three-year supervision order and to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work.
The Scottish Social Services Council has now banned Sala, who was a registered social care worker in Glenrothes, from the sector.

The watchdog’s report said: “You have been convicted of possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
“The behaviour is of the highest seriousness.
“Behaviour of this nature violates fundamental tenets of the profession and is not easily
remediable.”
It added: “If the behaviour were to be repeated, it would contribute to the ongoing sexual abuse and exploitation of the children involved and would have a lasting detrimental impact on the wellbeing of said children.”
The Courier has produced a round-up of the latest reports involving care workers, homes, nurseries and after-school clubs across Tayside, Fife and Stirling.
