A former Glenrothes Pizza Hut could be set for a new lease of life.

Plans to turn the empty town centre unit into a new takeaway and restaurant have been lodged with Fife Council.

If approved, it would be given the brand name Pepe’s.

As well as fulfilling takeaway orders, the venture would include indoor seating.

And it would be open until 10.30pm seven days a week.

The unit is one of four built next to Fife House and Hanover Court in Glenrothes in 2003.

However, it has been empty for some time.

Glenrothes Pizza hut development would enhance area

Applicant Usman Saleem says: “The site has been subject to a high vacancy level in recent years due to the administration of Blockbusters, Acorn Pets and most recently Pizza Hut.

“This planning application seeks to change the most recent usage from that of a takeaway/delivery unit to a takeaway and internal restaurant, under the brand name Pepe’s.”

Mr Saleem adds the development would improve the area.

“Vacant buildings can promote an impression of stagnation in the local economy,” he says.

“Therefore this development can directly contribute to the enhancement of the overall visual amenity and streetscape.”

Fife Council will consider the application in due course.
