Temperatures will soar to 27C in Dundee and 28C in Pitlochry at the end of this week.
Friday June 20 will be the hottest day of the year in Tayside, Fife and Stirling, according to the Met Office.
The weather forecaster predicts the mercury peak at around 1pm, breaking the record of the previous 2025 hottest day by a couple of degrees.
The UV risk will also be high at this time, with people urged to “seek shade during midday hours, cover up and wear sunscreen”.
Met Office warn of ‘very high’ pollen levels and ‘high’ UV risk
Hayfever sufferers are also warned that pollen levels will be ‘very high’.
However, despite the period of warm weather, it is not being classed as a “heatwave”.
According to forecasters, it would need to hit 25°C for at least three consecutive days to meet this threshold.
The Met Office forecast says: “Friday and Saturday will be warm, dry and bright with sunny spells.
“After a dry start, a band of rain and showers will spread east Sunday afternoon.”
